New method to measure cumulative effect of head hits in football
There’s a new metric called RWE (Risk Weighted Cumulative Exposure) that can determine a football player’s concussion risk. RWE measures the frequency and magnitude of all impacts. A recent study of high school football players found that impact frequency was greater during games (15.5) vs. practice (9.4), but overall exposure over the season was greater during practice.
