Suprising discovery about inhibitory neurons during learning
Now that technology allows neuroscientists to see what inhibitory neurons are up to during learning, researchers have discovered something surprising: During heightened periods of learning, inhibitory neurons fires about HALF AS OFTEN as expected. Apparently, the brain turns off the inhibitory cells in younger brains to allow the brain to absorb new information.
