Genes express differently in the male and female brain – including autism
A study of 12 regions of post-mortem brains showed that genes express differently in men and women. The differences involved 2.5 percent of all the genes expressed in the brain. One gene in particular, NRXN3, which is linked to autism, was found to be produced in the thalamus at lower levels in females than in males.
