Stress during pregnancy linked to autism and asthma
Moms who are stress during pregnancy may increase the development of symptoms of asthma and autism in their child.
Researchers in Canada have been studying the effects of stress on pregnant women who endured the January 1998 Quebec ice storm. They’ve found that the more the mother’s stress from the storm (e.g., more days without electricity), the more severe the child’s autistic-like traits at 6.5 years of age, although the children are not autistic.
